This is a live-edge slab cutting board, “Limes,” made from a single slab of black locust. Black locust is a great wood for cutting boards thanks to its hardness. It’s the second-hardest American domestic hardwood, next to hickory. It also has anti-microbial properties. This board is sized for small prep-work or lime slicing for cocktails, but isn’t large enough for big utility cutting. It also works great as a charcuterie display board. It’s been shaped to retain its live edge and character, including a great color contrast between the sapwood and the heartwood. Ripsaw lines on the back side add some interesting character.
Wine bottle for scale.
