This is a live-edge slab cutting board, “Beachy,” made from a single slab of black locust. Its figuring is in waves, thanks to a nearby branch, and reminds me of a beach. It’s also the right size for cutting limes for margaritas and the like. Black locust is a great wood for cutting boards thanks to its hardness. It’s the second-hardest American domestic hardwood, next to hickory. It also has anti-microbial properties. It’s been shaped to retain its live edge and character, including a great color contrast between the sapwood and the heartwood.
Wine bottle for scale.
