This is a live-edge slab cutting board, “Heartwood,” made from two joined slabs of black locust of black locust. Black locust is a great wood for cutting boards thanks to its hardness. It’s the second-hardest American domestic hardwood, next to hickory. It also has anti-microbial properties. This is a midsized cutting board, well-sized for prep-work but not for, say, hams. It’s been shaped to retain its live edge and character, including a great color contrast between the sapwood and the heartwood.
